In celebration of Cartier’s 150 years, the Paris jeweler released this crystal limited edition version of its Panthere de Cartier Perfume. Established in 1847, Cartier created 1,847 of these crystal bottles, of which only 300 were made available in the US market.
The heart of the flask, transparent and faceted like a gem, lights up the perfume bottle. The flask is topped with a crystal stopper inspired by the Duchess of Windsor’s brooch, which is famous for being one of the most expensive jewelry pieces at auction.
The stopper is attached by a golden thread to the neck of the bottle. Mine has naturally untied over the years. This is not the first time Cartier has released limited edition versions of its fine perfumes. Preciously it did a crystal version of its classic two black panthers on either side of the flask. There is also an Art Deco version, which I will cover separately. Then it realeased a gold panther version of this same bottle, seen below, called “Golden Sun”.
This panther from 1949 in platinum and white gold with two pear-cut yellow diamonds for eyes boasts a 152.35-carat sapphire cabochon; it was the second three-dimensional panther made for the Duchess of Windsor.
The panthere brooch by Cartier can be seen on the Duchess of Windsor’s (Wallis Simpson) belt.
Panthere de Cartier Paris Box
Like all Cartier jewelry, this perfume bottles luxurious red box is identical to that of the jewelery house’s watch and jewelry boxes with hinged clasp at the front.
