Tiffany & Co. introduced the Streamerica collection of personal accessories and watches in 1990 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its New York headquarters.

Tiffany & Co.’s Streamerica is inspired by the aerodynamic principles of the 1939 New York World’s Fair, the Streamlined designed collection evolved from the profile of a DC-3 wing and the bolted metal sheeting of airplane construction.  Steel and Industry symbolize America’s aspirations for progress and prosperity.  A Timeless expression of Man’s fascination with speed and technology – and his desire to forge a better tomorrow. 

Streamerica is a ground-breaking collection. Never before has Tiffany featured steel as a luxury material, but no other material could convey such a powerful message of contemporary sophistication and masculinity.

Made obsolete by our personal cel phones, the Metrozone Travel Alarm Clock, has no comparison in sheer luxury and beauty compared to our iphones.  Again, like the “travel” picture frame in the Metrozone collection, this item has a rather high weight count for traveling with it. 

When opened it reveals the mechanism of the alarm clock, kind of like a hand held puzzle of luxurious materials.  It lifts and then is passed thru the open slot in the lid to stand straight up when placed on your desk or nightside table.  Like the automatic World time watch, it has glow in the dark markings on each number and on its clock hands.  Features an alarm clock hand to set the alarm.

This piece is very rare, only seen about three times on ebay in the last 10 years.  Back plate says Tiffany & Co. / Streamerica, Swiss, Stainless Steel.
